OBIT:

Funeral Services for Evelyn M. Hall, 86-year-old Gage resident were held Friday, December 22, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gage First Baptist Church. Reverend Gary Flynt officiated. Interment followed in the Gage Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Shattuck.

Evelyn Mary Hall was born on June 16, 1914, at the family home southeast of Gage to Walter and Hazel (Bowman) Hendricks. She attended the Pleasant Valley rural school and later completed her education at Gage High School graduating with the “Class of 1932.” After attending Oklahoma State University for a time she began work for the late Harold Rader, as a secretary in the tag office and car agency.

On August 27, 1936, Evelyn was united in marriage to Frank William Hall at Arnett and they established their home in Gage. Evelyn stayed busy keeping the books for their service station they had purchased. When World War II started they sold the station and Frank entered the United States Army. Wanting to stay close to Frank Evelyn moved to near Camp Walters, Texas and then on to near Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. After Frank’s military service was completed they returned to Gage where Evelyn began working part time at the Gage Locker Plant that Frank and Clarence Hull operated.

Evelyn loved a beautiful lawn and flowers, and could grow most anything. She also enjoyed knitting and doing needlepoint. She and Frank enjoyed traveling, especially to Eureka Springs Arkansas, where they spent many happy moments together.

Evelyn and Frank cared for people and gave generously of their time and money to those in need. She was a member of the Gage Research Club, a 54-year member of the Gage American legion Auxiliary a member of the Gage Chamber of Commerce and was instrumental in helping to establish the Gage Public Library along with the late Jennie Suffield.

Mrs. Hall died Tuesday, December 19, 2000 at the Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City. She had reached the age of 86 years, 6 months and 3 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years Frank Hall, who died on September 17, 1995, two brothers, George and John Peer, and two sisters, Leta Grantham and Grace DePew.

Evelyn is survived by one sister May Glasgow of Ponca City, Oklahoma, four nephews and their wives, John D. and Nancy Peer of Mustang Oklahoma, Tom and Gloria Peer and Henry and Phyllis Peer all of Gage and Roy and OraBelle Grantham of Enid, five nieces and their husbands LeLoy and J. G. Banks of Hawaii, Marlene and Bob Christopherson of Texas, Mary and Gary Crow of Florida, Carol and Darrell Hamrick of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Darla Westbrook of Florida, special friends Clarence and Letha Hull and Betty and Fred Laubhan of Gage, other relatives and many friends.

Memorials can be made to the Leukemia Foundation or the First Baptist Church of Gage, with the funeral home serving as receiver of these memorials.
