Murray, Kenneth W. of Aurora passed away Tuesday January 25, 2011 at the age of 92. He was born in Aberdeen, WA the son of the late Walter and Mary Murray. His parents moved to Glencoe, IL when he was a child and he grew up in Glencoe. He graduated from New Trier High School and then attended the University of Illinois. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He was one of the first draftees in WWII. His first assignment was in Alaska and then as a Staff Sergeant he was sent to Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, because of his injures, he was sent back to Colorado Springs, where he met his wife Bernice "Bee" Pribyl. He received the Bronze Star Medal and was discharged in 1945. Ken & Bee were married in 1947 in Chicago and were married for 63 years. They moved to Aurora in 1948. He began working in insurance and real estate and left the DuPage Board of Realtors, the largest in Illinois after five years as executive vice president to become the managing director of the Real Estate Group Insurance Trust in Chicago which was one of the largest group insurance organizations in the country. He retired in 1983. He was also on the board of directors of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce. He also worked for the Aurora Township Assessors office after retiring from REGIT. Ken was an avid gardener, photographer and fisherman, he and Bee traveled all over the world. Ken was active in many organizations locally and WWII groups. He had been an active member of New England Congregational Church since 1948. He is survived by his loving wife Bee; his brothers, Don Murray and Allan Murray; his sisters, Betty Zehr and Laurie Leigh; brothers-in-law, Richard and Donald Pribyl; many, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews who were as close to him as if they were his own children. A memorial service will be held Saturday 11:00 a.m. February 19, 2011 at New England Congregational Church 406 W. Galena Blvd. Aurora, IL 60506.
