Alice Lauraa Powell, age 85, of Lake died Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the MidMichigan Regional Medical Center of Clare. Alice was born on September 28, 1918 in Flint the daughter of Stanley and Anna (Ripenberg) Shinabarger. She was united in marriage in 1934 to Archie Powell.

Alice was was a nurse for the Mt. Pleasant State home and training school.

Alice is survived by her children Archie and Cora Sue Powell and Beverly and Walter Degeer, both of Lake, Sterling and Willadeen Powell of Washington and Daniel and Jan Powell; 16 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; brothers and sisters Bob, Jim and Anna Belle and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Archie and a sister Betty.

Funeral services for Alice were held at the Coker Funeral Home Farwell with pastor Frederick Pletz officiating. Burial took place in the north Brinton Cemetery in Coldwater Township, Isabella County. Memorials may be given in Alice's name to the hospice of MidMichigan. Services have been arranged through the Coker Funeral Home of Farwell.
