Gregory K. Chandler, 51, of Columbia, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017. Born April 29, 1965, in Muenchweiler, Germany, son of Bobbly L. Chandler and Marlene E. Morgan Chandler.

Greg attended Shandon Baptist Church and graduated from The Citadel in 1987. He served on the South Carolina State Patrol for 24 years. Greg was a member of both The Citadel Alumni Association and the SC Troopers Association. He worked with Stingray Boats in Hartsville and was a District Security Officer with the US Marshals Service for more than 20 years. Greg was a doting father to his daughter, Taylor.

Survivors include his daughter, Taylor K. Chandler of Florence; parents, Bobby and Marlene Chandler of Columbia; brother, Jeffery T. Chandler and sister-in-law, Celinda S. Chandler of Hamilton, Virginia; niece, Madison; nephew, Logan; uncles, Larry and Lynn Chandler of Tennessee; and numerous cousins.

The funeral service for Greg will be held 12 o’clock, Friday, March 24th, at Shandon Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Gray and Rev. Dennis Banks officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10 o’clock. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with rites by the SC Highway Patrol Honor Guard. Current and former troopers with the SC Highway Patrol are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Drive, Columbia, SC 29206. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
