Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Walter Troy and Verdie Alexander Cantrell. A USMC WWII veteran, he retired from the USAF as well as Charleston Air Force Base. He was a member of Goose Creek Baptist Church, and National NAUS.
In addition to his wife, survivors include, sons, Michael Cantrell of Moncks Corner, William Cantrell of Hillard, FL; step-daughter, Lynn Hoke of Rock Hill; step-son, David Robinson of Easley; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by brothers, Mathree Warren, Ernest Cantrell, and Lloyd Cantrell.
