Mr. Batterton was at one time a prisoner in Andersonville prison during the Civil War. He died at the Old Soldiers' & Sailors' Home in Quincy, IL, at the age of 89 years old. He was survived by his wife, Mrs. C. S. Batterton; sons Abraham L. and Alexander M. Batterton; daughters Miss Minnie Batterton, Mrs. G. L. Watson, Mrs. Martin Strand, and Mrs. J. C. Mote; five sisters, Mrs. Amy Wells, Mrs. Mildred Pelham, Mrs. Tilford Miller, Mrs. Charlotte Akers and Mrs. William Batterton.
