BATES TOWNSHIP-David W. Anderson, 64, died suddenly Nov. 3.
He was born Feb. 7, 1916 in Bates Township and graduated from Iron River High School in 1935. He owned an auto repair shop in Chicago, Ill. for 35 years and in 1973 returned to this area where he owned and operated Dave’s Auto Repair in Bates Township. He retired in 1976.
He was a bass player for various bands in Chicago and a member of the Iron County Band and the Caspian Band. On Oct. 2, 1948 he married the former May Gould in Chicago.
Surviving are his wife; daughters, Lenor Anderson, Toronto, Can. and Carol Anderson, Madison, Wis.; sisters, Frances Schneider, Bates Township, Gladys Dall and Margaret Zurek, both of Chicago; and brothers, Ted Anderson, Los Angeles, Calif., Charles Anderson, Tulsa, Okla. and Verne Andrews, Land O’ Lakes, Wis.
Memorial services will be held Nov. 5 at the Bates Township Hall at 3 p.m. with Darby Renner of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Escanaba officiating.
Brooks Funeral Home of Stambaugh will be in charge of arrangements.
