His funeral was held at Sosebee Memorial Chapel on March 22, 2017, with The Rev. Pete Martin and The Rev. Larry Caylor officiating. He was the widower of Evelyn Setser Blanton. Also, he was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Virginia Lusk Blanton,, and by a grandson, Owen Watkins. He was survived by his father, Dillard Blanton; companion, Lynn Reed; children, Aubrey Blanton (Donna), Susan Watkins (Craig) and Connie Benjamin (David); six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three siblings; and an extended family of relatives and friends. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. He worked as a saw miller.
