The wife of Charles Keyser Sr buried here is named Elizabeth (last name found as Grossgloss) not Mary (Shelley). The deed for this land the tombstones are on specifically states an Elizabeth was his widow ON THE DEED. The original deed is as noted in the WPA of Charles Keyser's home was dated 1765. The first change in the deed is dated 1778 when Charles Keyser Sr died. The second change is noted to be for Charles Keyser Jr in 1796 when the son died.

There is only a reference of Mary Shelley in a book about a different Charles Keyser which stems from research trying to connect Charles to Germany not in proving who this Charles fits to known descendants of Charles and Elizabeth Keyser.

Charles Keyser First Generation

Website for First Settlers of Shenadoah Valley specifically naming wife as Elizabeth Grossgloss
Similar Tombstone next to Charles Keyser in the same cemetery.
HURSTS IN SHENANDOAH COUNTY VIRGINIA", author Mrs. June Hurst Childers,
"FORERUNNERS" by STRICKLER; "MEAD RELATIONS" by A. M. PRICHARD, published by The McClure Co., Printers, Staunton, Virginia in 1933;
KISER FAMILY DESCENDANTS by CHARLES S. KISER.

These stones for both Charles and Elizabeth are similar in appearance and found near each other. The historical society in the area lists Elizabeth as spouse and first settler. Elizabeth is listed as Charles Keyser's widow on a deed for Charles and referenced in the WPA for the VA Historical Inventory Project for their home. If it cannot be accepted Elizabeth was the spouse because the grave is newer, then neither could it be acceptable proof for the burial of Charles Keyser himself.

Also, the dates for Charles buried here found on the stone are 1702-1778 not 1726-1778. The birth year was changed on the findagrave due to research found for a German birth for a Carl Sebastian Keyser. I stipulate that Carl is not the same person as this Charles Keyser buried here next to Elizabeth and there is actually 2 men being combined into 1 person for the sake of connecting this Charles Keyser to German ancestry.
