WESTON-Maurice T. Harding, 74, passed away April 6, 1995 at the Franklin County Hospital in Preston, Idaho.
He was born January 31, 1921 in Aurora, Utah, the son of Myrtle May Anderson and Samuel Edward Harding. He received his schooling in Aurora, Utah and graduated from North Servier High School in Salina, Utah.
He served honorably in the Army from 1942 to 1945. He was a staff segeant in the 88th Division, Co K. 351 Infantry. He served in Oran, Africa, and was with the first troops to go into Rome, Italy. He was wounded crossing the Ohno River near Florence, Italy. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Victory Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, good conduct medal, sharp shooting Browning automatic rifle combat Infantryman badge, European African Middle Eastern sSrvice Ribbon.
He married Harriet Moore Sept 6. 1946, and they were later divorced, He married Elaine Connary Shamburg May 11, 1968 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He started working for the Idaho Fish and Game in 1947. One of the many places he worked in Idaho was the Fish and Game hatchery in Grace, where he became the foreman.
He later became a conservation officer serving in several places in Idaho and retired from the Idaho Fish and Game Department after 30 years of service in February, 1977. He was the Senior Conservation Officer in Salmon, Idaho. He graduated from the Police Academy training school in Pocatello and had been President of the Idaho Peace Officers Association.
He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion.
He resided in Salmon for 23 years before moving to Weston, Idaho five years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Elain, Weston, and two daughters and two sons and spouses; Laura DeLa Torre, Idaho Falls; Starlene and Mike Tanner, Salem, Oregon; Keith and Carman Harding, Fort Hood, Texas; and James and Sandra Shamburg, Blackfoot; one brother Verl and Ruth Harding , Grace and one sister, Thelma and Dick Probert, Scipio, Utah. Nine grandchilren, Randy, Lonnie, Chuck, Sheldon, Lori, Landen, Elena, Nicole and Brian,. Three Great-grandchildren, Amberlyn, Kyle, Kailee. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Furneral services will be Monday, April 10, 1995 at 11 AM at Webb Funeral Home in Preston, Idaho. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery, with military rites at the cemetery by the Leonard Bronstrom Post of Verterans of Foreign Wars.
