Shirley Long, 79, of Belmont, WV, passed away March 14, 2017, at WV Hospice Care at Ruby Memorial Hospital, in Morgantown, WV. She was born January 29, 1938, in Armbrust, PA, a daughter of the late William F, and Ida Mae Seanor Achtziger.

Shirley was a member of the St. Marys Presbyterian Church, was a Belmont City Councilperson, and Mayor Protem. She was retired from Mon Power after 20 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of the Pleasants County Players, a member of the WHOS Club, and a member of the Belmont CEO Club (homemakers club). She was a member of the Pleasants County Republican Women and the Pleasants County Republican Executive Committee. She was a board member of the Pleasants County Senior Nutrition, and the Pleasants County Habitat for Humanity. Her hobbies included bowling in the Emerson Lanes bowling league on the “Ally Cats”. She volunteered at the Belmont Elementary School, and she enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and politics.

She is survived by her husband of 55 plus years, Ronald H. Long, daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Joseph Nitz of Morgantown, WV, son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Kathy Kelly-Long of Pickerington, OH, grandchildren, Garrett Nitz of Morgantown, WV, and Kelsey Mae Long and Courtney Rae Long of Pickerington, OH, two sisters, Carol Shepler of Belmont, WV, and Billie Faye (Vernon) Carey of Derry, PA, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 19, 2017, at 2 P. M. at the Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV. Friends may call from 12 noon to 2 P. M. Sunday at the funeral home.
