Rosa Alluria Jones, age 93, of Fries, Virginia passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at her home.
Mrs. Jones was born in the Brush Creek community of Carroll County, Virginia on September 17, 1923 to Marlie Fielder and Malinda Catherine Bowers Jones.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Swanson Jones.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Aline and Jack Payne of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, Rosa Lee and Thomas Blevins of Fries, Virginia, Darlene and Doug Bryant of Galax, Virginia, Lillian and Ronnie Shaffner of Fries, Virginia, Kathy and Cecil Ayers of Fries, Virginia, Carol and Jim Carter of Independence, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law: Johnny and Janice Jones of Galax, Virginia, Ikey and Linda Jones, Mike and Brenda Jones, Bryan and Nancy Jones, all of Fries, Virginia; sisters: Inez Ward of Independence, Virginia, Imogene Snow of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; brothers and sisters-in-law: Sherman and Claudine Jones, M.F. and Judy Jones, all of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel. Burial will follow in the St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery at Cripple Creek.
The family will receive friends Thursday from twelve noon until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
