Sharon Asay Ray, 66, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, following complications from an emergency surgery.

Sharon was the third of four children born to Elvin Verl Asay and LaVaun Heaton in Salt Lake City on October 1, 1950.

She married the love of her life, Michael Walter Ray, in the Salt Lake Temple on July 7, 1978 for time and for all eternity. Together, they had five wonderful children: Kristin, Julianne, Marci, Nathan, and Tyler.

Sharon's greatest joys were serving the Lord, whom she loved unconditionally, and her family. She always looked forward to being with her twelve grandchildren, who gave her absolute joy.

She considered it an honor to serve in her callings, especially as an Ordinance Worker in the Jordan River Temple and most recently as Relief Society President in the Taylorsville Tenth Ward. Her love for her fellow sisters seemed to know no bounds.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Michael; children, Kristin Ray (Mario), Julianne Oakeson (Joshua), Marci Andelin (Kendall), Nathan Ray (Azucena), and Tyler Ray (Kelsey); grandchildren, Hallie, Francesca, Adelyn, Avery, Naiara, Audrey, Michael, Matthew, Parker, Kate, Ashton, and Daniel; sister, Kaye Baldwin; sister-in-law, Arlene Asay; brother-in- law, Roger Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Verla Anderson; and brother, Joseph Asay.

Funeral services to honor Sharon's life will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Taylorsville Central Stake Center, 4950 South 1950 West, Taylorsville. Viewings will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road (1700 West), Taylorsville, and prior to the services at the church on Friday from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
