Shelia L. Sawyer Owens, 87, of Anderson, died Jan.24, 2007, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, following an extended illness.

She was nor Oct. 2, 1919 in Rock Hill, S.C. the daughter of William and Hatie(Hall) Jackson, and had been an Anderson resident since 1971.

Shelia was employed as head proofreader for Warner Press for 19 years retiring in 1991.

She was a member of Sherman St. Church of God.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon S. ( Harold) Garnes of Indianapolis, and Marcie R. Sawyer, PhD. of Carlsbad, CA.; two sons, Harold Garnes of Indianapolis, Thomas J. Sawyer of Seattle, WA., daughter-in-law Neida Sawyer of Indianapolis; two brothers and a sister; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild and many nieces andnephews.

Shelia was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, the Rev. Dr. Thomas J. Sawyer, andher second husband, James P. Owens; five brothers; and a sister.

Pastor LeRoy Quashie will officiate at the funeral.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
