John W Roberts, a founding member of Siloam Baptist Church, the son of Joseph Roberts and Rebecca Warren. He married Malinda Curtis and they were the parents of 15 children all born in Simpson County, Mississippi.
He joined the Confederacy on 5-14-1862, at Westville, Mississippi,by Captain Husbands, at the age of 21, along with 2 of his brothers, Jacob and Phillip Roberts.
After Malinda's death, he married Mrs. Caroline Layton.
He died at Mount Olive, Mississippi at the age of 72, according to his death certificate.
