Lilburn Henry Payne 98, of Ardmore, Oklahoma passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Ardmore.  He was born on June 13, 1918 in Belzona, Oklahoma to the late William Moody Payne and Ora Elizabeth Culley Payne.  Lilburn married Edith Lucille Pittman on November 9, 1956 in Oklahoma.  Lilburn attended OSU and was an Army Veteran of 26 years, 8 months and 9 days.  His rank was SS G-E-6, his specialty was Medical Specialist and Medical Assistance.  He served during the Korean War, World War II and Vietnam.  He received a Sharpshooter badge (Rifle M-16) Vetnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal (4th Award) Combat Medical badge. Lilburn was a self-taught fiddle player, song writer and detailed story teller.  His favorite songs were the songs he wrote and played for his wife. Lilburn was of the Holiness faith.      
He is survived by:
Wife:               Edith Lucille Payne, Madill, Oklahoma
 
4 Nieces           4 Nephews
 
And several grand and great grandnieces and nephews.
 
Lilburn was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son; Larry Michael Payne, born on January 1, 1960 and died January 3, 1960, one sister; Lydia Payne Stallcup Marks, 2 brothers; Walter Payne and Frank Payne.
