Obituary for Lester Von Campbell Jr
Lester V. Campbell Jr. passed away at Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Gig Harbor on March 7, 2017 with his wife Sherry of 58 years and his four children Lester 3rd, Victor, Scott, Tracey and six of his twelve grandchildren were present at his passing. Lester has a younger sister Judith who lives in the Denver Colorado area. Lester was born July 1, 1936 in Logansport, Indiana to Lester V Campbell Sr. and Esther (Jacoby) Campbell. At 11 years of age Lester’s parents moved to Denver, Colorado. Lester spent his childhood in Denver and graduated from North High School in 1954. Right after High School he joined the Navy and spent 4 years living the good life before robbing the cradle and marrying Sherry Lee Black, age 17, who was living in Manhattan Beach, California. Lester’s Naval Career started in 1954. In 1961 he entered the nuclear power program and achieved E7 grade in 1966 and retired from Navy Career in 1974. Lester would say I spent a total of 18 years 11 months 11 days active service for my country. Then spent another 19 years civil service repairing nuclear Naval vessels he had served during his Naval Career at the Bremerton Naval Shipyard in Washington State. During his Naval Career Had received Vietnam Service Medal and several Good Conduct Awards.Lester’s children remember him never missing a Christmas with the family during his Naval Career.His Oldest Son Lester 3rd commented on several occasions that he felt he had a good home life.Lester’s favorite activities were fish, hunting, and camping with his wife and children.Lester will be missed by his wife Sherry of 58 years of marriage and his four children.In Loving memory of Lester V Campbell Jr. for all he did for his family and friends.
