Sydney Claire Alford, 16, returned to God who created her on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at North Miss. Medical Center after a sudden illness. Born in Boise, Idaho on April 20, 2000, Sydney was blessed with wonderful parents, Mike Alford and Sonia Wall Alford and her beloved twin sister, Lyndsey Grace Alford. Sydney was a junior at Tupelo High School where she was an excellent student and active in school activities including the honor roll. She loved music and excelled in the THS Band, including the honors band, where she was 1st chair bass clarinetist. She joined her many friends recently in performing in Washington, D. C. at the Inauguration of President Donald Trump. Sydney was a guitarist, a member of the Symphonic Band and the Indoor Drum line at THS. A quiet young woman, she was a gentle spirit, intelligent and an exemplary teenage role model for her contemporaries. She excelled in the martial arts and had a black belt in karate. She loved attending the Orchard Methodist Church and participating in all its activities. Sydney loved all God's creation, the outdoors. nature and was an animal lover, especially enjoying horses and horseback riding. She left us all too soon - for this world was not meant for one as beautiful as she.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 PM Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Hope Church, 2094 McCullough Blvd, Tupelo with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Bryan Collier officiating. Burial will follow in Itawamba Memorial Gardens east of Fulton. Visitation will be from 4 PM-6PM Saturday and from 1:30 - service time on Sunday all at Hope Church. Sydney is survived by her parents, Mike and Sonia Alford and her twin sister, Lyndsey Alford all of Tupelo. Her maternal grandmother, Jessie Ruth Wall of Mantachie. Several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends everywhere. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Ruth Hubbard Alford and Wyndle Alford and Dock Bower Wall.

Pallbearers will be fellow members of the THS Marching Band: Kyle Woodward, Warfield Edwards, Reed Goodson, Austin Coon, Nathaniel Aycock, Keith Franklin, Zander Foster, and Parker Gailor.
