Herman L. George, Sr., 89, of 106 Hemlock Hall, Middletown, died Saturday at Frey Village, Middletown.

He was the son of the late Russell and Valeria I. Long George.

He was a retired Production Control Specialist at the former Olmsted Air Base, Lower Swatara Twp.; former owner of Goldsboro Boat Marina, George and Hurst Bicycle Shop; founder and First Commander of Tri-County Boat Club, Londonderry Twp.

He enjoyed boating, model airplanes, old movies, floral arranging, an avid NASCAR fan and he especially enjoyed the company of his family.

He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Middletown.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elva I. Hedges George.

Surviving is his wife, Helen F. Keiffer George; son, Herman L., Jr., husband of Frankie George of Taylors, SC; daughters, Mary L., wife of Dwight Springer of Collierville, TN, Susan A., wife of Wayne Selcher of Elizabethtown and Carol, wife of David Keeny of Etters; stepson, Frank Moody of York Haven; stepdaughters, Linda Kramer of Harrisburg, Connie Gilroy and Pamela Snyder, both of Middletown; 11 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Matincheck & Daughter Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Middletown, with the Rev. Dr. J. Richard Eckert, his pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in the Middletown Cemetery.

There will be no viewing. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Building Fund, St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Spring, and N. Union Streets, Middletown.
