The fieldstone initialed "S F 1714" is most likely that of Sarah, 1st wife of Samuel Arnold [1670-1739] of East Haddam. They joined the 1st Church of Christ on 27 March 1709. In all, they had about five children: Samuel bapt. 1704, Joseph bapt. 1706, Sarah bapt.1708, Mary bapt. 1710 and another Mary bapt. 1713. It is evident that Sarah, wife of Samuel Arnold died in 1714 as he remarried to Abigail Buck about 1715 as their first child was Enoch bapt. in September 1716. Samuel Arnold died on 20 March 1739 [town record] and was most likely interred in this yard.

The plot # for Sarah Arnold is 117 which is next to that of Deacon Daniel Cone # 116, which indicates that she might have been a Cone?
