Abe Key Barnard Jr., 86, passed away at Sunshine Haven in Olmito, Texas on Thursday, December 11, 2014.

Abe was a lifetime resident of Brownsville. He was born in 1928 to Abe Key Barnard Sr. and Cecil Estell Younger. Abe was a proud Army veteran having served during the Army of Occupation Japan at Taegu, Korea.

Abe leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Cecilia Ford Barnard six children: Cynthia Terry Bozarth, Mark Patti Barnard, Jimmy Kay Barnard, Scott Louise Barnard, Julie Greg Chandler, and Christopher Donna Barnard along with 23 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren.

Abe will be in state from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14th in the Stateroom at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The family will begin to receive friends at 4:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Community Church, 300 Morrison Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Abes name may be made to Big Red Ministries, 485 Stovall Rd., Brownsville, Texas. Sunshine Haven, 7405 West Lakeside Blvd., Olmito, Texas 78575 or Good Shepherd Community Church.
