BRISTOL, Va. Blanche Irene Johnson Collins, age 83, left her temporary home at Grace Health Care on Saturday, March 3, 2017, to be with her Lord and family. Blanche was born and raised in Castlewood, Va. to the late Claude and Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jessee Johnson. As a young adult she moved to Ohio for 12 years before moving to Bristol where she lived the rest of her life and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Blanche was a hard worker and retired from HBA Metal Castings in Bristol. Her children and family were the love of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Danley L. Collins; son, Danley E. "Gene" Collins; sisters, Ella Mae Johnson, Pauline Marshall, and Lucille Lane; and brother, Charlie "June" Johnson. She is survived by three children, Joyce Griffith and husband, Bill of Mendota, Va., David Collins and wife, Tina of Saltville, Va., and Patty Collins of Bristol, Va.; grandchildren, Tina Clark, Terry Sewell, Cody Griffith, Larry Griffith, Destenie Griffith, Matthew Collins, Mandy Booher, and Chase Collins; great grandchildren, Levi Anderson, Jordan Sewell, Thomas Hill, Nicholes Hill, and Riley Hicks; and great-great grandson, Kaycen Anderson. Visitation with the family will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Ray Wolford officiating. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017, in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with the grandsons and great grandsons serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to convene at the cemetery by 11 a.m. The family would like to extend special thanks to the caregivers at Grace Health Care and Inger Dickenson for all their help.
