In a letter that Johan wrote in 1902, he describes his life as grenadier and how he served.
"I was born under Carl the 14th of Johansson in 1828 in Böllingetorp Hultsjö Socken. At the age of 15, however,
Carl 14 and Oskar you became his successor. When I was 20 years old, I became Grenadier for Rusthold 112
Huluboda. After recruitment school, war between Denmark and Germany became the same year as the Swedish army
was released as a helping hand when some of our regiments were over to Denmark. We others were on camp in Malmö. From early spring to fall in 1849, I was sent to Malmö on prison guard four months. The following year, our Battalion was sent to Stockholm at the then Crown Pronunciation Carls
Wedding for 20 days. In 1854 there was war between England and Russia when we were on the beach guard Gottland 4 months. The Russians wanted to go there too. Then during Oscar In disease we stayed Commanded to Stockholm and he died while we were there. So we got Sweden under Carl 15 in
Jönköping on the way home. Once again we have been to Stockholm and Svurit under new fana. Then I have
been on Carlsborg on firefighting for 4 months. In 1872 I was commanded for the third time Malmo. When we had been there for 2 weeks, Carl 15 came from Baden in Germany. So sick that he is about the same
