James Richard "Steve" Cornell, 93 of Dresden, died Friday, August 19, 2005, at the Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden. Services for Mr. Cornell were held Sunday, August 21, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. in the Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial was in the Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Rev. Jim Calhoun officiated the services.

Mr. Cornell was a Machinist for Teletype Corporation. He was born in Sharon to the late Isham and Gussie Hunt Cornell. He was a World War II Army Veteran and attended the Dresden First United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cornell was preceded in death by a sister, Winnie Powell and a brother, Harry Cornell.

Mr. Cornell is survived by his wife, Lona Harris Hamlin Bowlin Cornell; two stepdaughters, Shirley Bowlin Miles of Bartlett, Illinois and Betty Bowlin Airhart of North Aurora, Illinois; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two nephews, William C. (Billy) Powell of Dresden, and James Powell of Springville, Tennessee; and a niece, Sarah Koch of Grantsville, Pennsylvania.
