Mr. Cornell was a Machinist for Teletype Corporation. He was born in Sharon to the late Isham and Gussie Hunt Cornell. He was a World War II Army Veteran and attended the Dresden First United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cornell was preceded in death by a sister, Winnie Powell and a brother, Harry Cornell.
Mr. Cornell is survived by his wife, Lona Harris Hamlin Bowlin Cornell; two stepdaughters, Shirley Bowlin Miles of Bartlett, Illinois and Betty Bowlin Airhart of North Aurora, Illinois; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two nephews, William C. (Billy) Powell of Dresden, and James Powell of Springville, Tennessee; and a niece, Sarah Koch of Grantsville, Pennsylvania.
