F. Alonzo Hoffman, 76, of Toulon, formerly of Wyoming, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Alonzo was born on November 9, 1940, in Speer, IL, the son of August Fredrick and Leila Belle (Bohannon) Hoffman. He married Lillian Cochren on October 18, 1970, in Wyoming, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Shannon Hoffman of Iowa; one daughter, Sierrah (Josh Ewing) Hoffman of Peoria; four grandchildren, Ethan Ewing, and Haley, Heidi, and Lily Hoffman; seven brothers, Frank Hoffman of LaSalle, IL, Loren (Nancy) Hoffman of Chillicothe, Ray (Judy) Hoffman of Clinton, IA, Nick (Debbie) Hoffman of Varna, IL, Roger (Linda) Hoffman of East Peoria, Robert (Robin) Hoffman of Peoria, and Paul (Diana) Hoffman of Edwards, IL; four sisters, Elizabeth Plate of Toulon, May Schoenbein of Dunlap, Colaya Redell “Cookie” of Peoria, Juanita (Greg) Murphy of Sparland, IL; and one sister-in-law Sylvia Hoffman of Dunlap. Alonzo was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Seward Bohannon and August Hoffman; and one sister, June Smith.
Alonzo loved the outdoors. He was always working hard in the yard, but he most enjoyed taking care of the cattle. He loved talking to everyone who stopped by.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017, at Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Toulon. Rev. Albert Harmon will officiate. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Lawn Ridge Cemetery in Speer, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Farmers and Farmerettes 4-H Club in Toulon or Kewanee High School FFA.
