My grandfather was born in Glasgow, Scotland and came to America when he was around 6 years old. His parents were Rachel and Archibald Campbell. I know my grandfather had a brother. He died when I was six years old so I don't remember to much about him. I know he was very tall and lean. He married Mary Graeve and had 4 children, John, Rebecca, Archibald, and Ida. {Ida is my Mother}
He joined the navy November 16,1912 when my mom was a baby.He served from Nov 1912 to Nov 1916.His rank was MM1/C. He was a character what I understand. He died on Valentines day 1952 from throat cancer at age 69.My mom told me alot of funny stories about my grandfather, he really must of been a sweet man. One story I have to tell as I know my grandmom had to be mad, my grandpop came home one night after a few drinks with some friends, well my grandmother had prepared a wonderful stew, which he liked. When he came in he asked my grandmother were his supper was she said you want your supper she open the kitchen door and threw the pot with the stew in it out the back door and it landed in a few feet of snow. My mom said that stew stayed there until the snow melted. I wonder if it was still good, due to it would of been frozen. He was the grandfather of Alfred, Robert, John, Thomas, Diane, Dolores, Lois, Louis, Joanie, Bonnie, Archibald the 4th, Jerry and Jacqueline and many great and great great grandchildren. My granddads nick name was Sandy.
I want to thank everyone who leaves a note or flower at my grandpops site, God Bless you.
