BANCROFT, Idaho -- Vivian Marelda Jensen Barfuss, 84, of Bancroft, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs.She was born July 11, 1919, in Lund, Idaho, the daughter of Peters Burt and Katherine Johanna Schenk Jensen. She married Leland "Lee" Barfuss Dec. 15, 1938, in the Logan LDS Temple. He passed away April 29, 1986 leaving a void in Marelda's life.
Marelda lived most of her life in the Bancroft area except for a few years in Brigham City, Utah. She attended school in Brigham and North Gem High School in Bancroft. She was active in the LDS Church serving in Primary and Relief Society. She was active with her rheumatoid hands in crocheting, embroidering, and quilt tops for her family. She loved her family and enjoyed being with them.
She is survived by one son and two daughters and their spouses; Burt and Sue Barfuss of Bancroft; Ruth Adell and Blaine Priestly of Bancroft; and Karen and Ronnie Compton of Seattle, Wash. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, VaLoie McLain and Mada Smith both of Bancroft and Connie Maxwell of Pocatello. She was also preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Tuesday, Jan. 27 at Bancroft LDS Chapel with Bishop Raplh Peterson officiating. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs, and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Bancroft Chapel.
Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
