Nancy's parents and older siblings were recorded in the 1870 Liberty, Adair, Missouri census. John was age 18; Eliza, 12; William P., 4; & Curren? H., a girl, was age 2. This family was in Alta, Harvey, Kansas in the 1880 census. Porter was age 13; Nancy, 9; & Jehu, 5.

Nancy Benefield, [29,] was recorded as the married daughter of Sarah J. Pinkerton, 69, in the 1900 Belmont, Kingman, Kansas census. Nancy had married in 1889. George Benefield was age 8 and Jacob J. Pinkerton, 24.

the 1910 Mangan, Comanche, Oklahoma census records Nannie as age 39, with her husband, George W. Benefield, 59, and her son, George A., 18. They resided in Lawton Ward 2, Comanche, Oklahoma in the 1920 census.


The Texas death certificate for Nancy P. Benefield, a widow, records her birth and death dates and locations, as well as her burial information. Her body was removed to Kingman, Kansas for burial on March 13, 1956. G. A. Benefield was the informant.

Nancy's father enlisted in Co. I of the 3rd Iowa Cavalry in August of 1861 and served until August of 1865. Nancy's mother, Sarah J., received a widow's pension in May of 1889, filed from Kansas.
