Jan worked as a secretary at Gilbert High School for many years. She was member of Gilbert Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, flowers and liked to collecting and organizing things. Jan loved her birds and her grandchildren and family was very important to her.
Jan passed away February 27, 2017 at Bethany Manor at the age of 80.
Jan is survived by four sons, Tim (Lorriane) Peterson of Ames, Michael (Kerin) Peterson of Boone, Blake (Penny) Peterson and Brian (Laurie) Peterson of Story City; 10 grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a brother, Ron Brown (Ardith) of Polk City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step mother, Ola Brown; her husband and a sister, Linda Blanshan.
