Luther Denison and brother Calvin were christen in Walpole, Cheshire, N.H. on 11 October 1789, the son of Jedidiah and Lydia Griswold Denison. Luther married Nancy Rice in Walpole on 22 September 1811. In 1792 Mason Abbey, wheelwright, and John Rice, Husbandman, Luther's father-in-law, purchased a sawmill and millspot, for £30. By 1812 Luther has taken out a mortgage on the sawmill and is taxed by the City of Walpole, N.H. in years 1812 & 1813. Luther's military service is listed below.

Dennison, Luther - prisoner 7870 Private US Army: captured at Fort Erie on Sept 17, 1814: interred at Halifax from George Transport on Dec 4, 1814: discharged April 7, 1815 from Naval Hospital. He was probably transferred from Quebec ops Vessel George . Most of the Army men at Halifax came from there."
