Harry earned the Distinguished Flying Medal for extinguishing a fire aboard his Halifax bomber while being attacked by two enemy night fighters during a raid on Nuremburg. He also assisted members of the crew aboard the dinghy when the pilot had to ditch close to the enemy coast. They spent 10 hours on the water before being rescued.
Later that year, Harry was lost when his Halifax LW 132, which was proceeding to a target in Chantilly, France, went down in flames and fell into the sea at Little Hampton, England.
Son of Joseph B. Glass and Esther (nee Ruminick) Glass, of Toronto, Ontario.
