Mrs. Mamie Hoopaugh Smith, 90, of Hephzibah Church Road, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Carolinas Healthcare Systems - Cleveland.

Mrs. Smith was born on March 17, 1926 in Cleveland County, NC a daughter of the late Edley Roberts and Mary Loutricia Leigh Roberts. She was retired from Celanese in Earl. Mrs. Smith was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville and active with the Keenagers.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Emmitt Gibbs Hoopaugh; her second husband, Morris S. Smith, Jr.; a son, Jimmy Edgar Hoopaugh and a son-in-law, Buddy Dodrill.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Petrovsky of Atlanta, GA; Pat Moss and husband Steve of Cherryville; Brenda Trotsenko; Joyce Woodard and husband Jim; Jeanette Champion and husband David; two brothers, Jack and Richard Roberts; two sisters, Ruth Childrez and Emma Gertrude Patrick all of Shelby; also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12:45 to 1:45PM on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Key officiating.

Burial will be at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Earl.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 112 Mt. Zion Church Road, Cherryville, NC 28021.
