Judy Pignone was born the fourth, and youngest, of Italian immigrants Antonio Pignone and Antoinette Pignone (nee Siano). Her parents immigrated to the USA in 1913 with her eldest sister Josephine.

Judy married Joseph Michael Gallagher Sr. (himself the son of Irish immigrants) after WWII. The couple had three children: Joe Jr., Jean, and Lynn. She is the grandmother of 4, aunt of 2 (Tony and Joey, the only sons of her sisters Josephine and Edith), and great-aunt of 3.

Judy remarked in her golden years that making it to 90 would be a nice way to go. True to her word and her wishes, she died about three weeks after her 90th birthday party. She was buried with her husband who pre-deceased her by 28 years on September 14, 2013.
