Former State Street Baptist Pastor Dies
Kansas City, Kansas — Services for the Reverend Vertio C Dameron, 66, Kansas City, Kansas, formerly of Rockford, who died Tuesday in Bethany Medical Center, Kansas City, will be at 2 pm Friday in First Baptist Church, Highland Crest, Kansas. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.

The Reverend Dameron was former pastor of State Street Baptist Church, Rockford. At the time of his death, he was pastor of First Baptist Church, Highland Crest.

He was a minister forty-seven years and also served pastorates at Grandview Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kansas, and Baptist churches in Keytesville, Missouri; Smithville, Missouri, Rock Island, Illinois, and West Allis, Wisconsin.

He was a former instructor for Dale Carnegie courses and was an Army chaplain during World War II. He graduated from Hannibal-LaGrange Junior College, Hannibal, Missouri, William Jewell College and Central Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, Missouri.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; three daughters, Meryllee Strandt, Shawnee, Kansas; Dianne Bates, Pecatonica; and Julie Julin, Kansas City, Missouri; two brothers, Bill, Tusa, Oklahoma, and Bob, San Diego, California; five sisters, Ina Donati, Columbia, Missouri; Dora Tregnano, Higbee, Missouri; Dorothy Campbell, Marysville, Washington; and Claudine Richardson and Elinore Rook, both of Moberly, Missouri; eight grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Memorial funds have been established at Cancer Action Inc, and the Urology Department of M D Anderson Hospital, Houston, Texas.
