Billy Joe Nix, 83, of Weatherford, Oklahoma, passed away on February 20, 2017 at the Weatherford Regional Hospital. He was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Roy Lee Nix and Grace Marie (Curlee) Nix on August 5, 1933.

Bill attended school in Anadarko. He married Mary Helen Shaw on December 7, 1962 in Canton, Oklahoma. They lived in Taloga, Oklahoma until moving to Canton in 1970. After Mary passed away he married Joy May Cavett on December 8, 1984 at the Canton Christian Church. After serving in the army he spent most of his life working in the oilfield including time on an off-shore rig in Nigeria. He attended Canton Christian Church then later changed his membership to Southwestern Christian Church in Weatherford, Oklahoma where he and Joy May resided.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Grace; wives Mary and Joy May; two brothers, Forrest Calvin Nix and James Alton Nix; two sisters, Ione Vallene Luzzi and Wilma Jean Lenius.

Bill is survived by his children, Shelly Jo Denton of Canton, Oklahoma, Gregory Lee Nix and wife Carol of Enid, Oklahoma and Micheal Howard Nix and wife Tonya of Eagle City, Oklahoma; step-children Diana Campbell, Debbie Copeland and Dean Cavett; one sister, Nina Christina Davis and husband Hershel of Anadarko, Oklahoma; grandchildren Brandon Denton, JoLynn Simon and husband Dalton, Joshua Nix, Haley Nix, Kaley Nix, Eli Nix, Ally Nix, Kenzi Nix and Kylie Nix; great-grandchildren Skyler Heap of Birds Denton, Damien Denton, Keyzli Denton, Paisley Denton, Bree Simon and Braylee Simon; step-grandchildren Kayla Beech and Kaci Rider; step-great-grandchildren Kyler Beech, Clover Brittain and Kimber Brittain; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Canton Christian Church with Pastor Monte Michaelson officiating. Interment will follow in Cherryvale Cemetery east of Canton under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.
