Irma Jean Kraai was born on August 31, 1924 to Henry D. and Agnes Alice (Olson) Kraai in Crawford. Jean graduated from Crawford High School with the Class of 1943. After graduation, she attended Central Business College in Denver.
On February 18, 1948, Jean married the love of her life, Marvin E. Clark, in Wheatridge, Colorado. To this union, four children were born.
Jean was a hard worker growing up in the Great Depression on the family ranch in Crawford. She valued hard work being a rancher’s daughter then later a rancher’s wife. She worked for over 30 years at Rogers Mesa Fruit in the packing shed at Lazear, Colorado.
Jean was a member of the Crawford Community United Methodist Church, Crawford Mesa Club, Rocky Mountain Farmers Union, Black Mesa Cowbells of which she was a Charter member, Crawford Cemetery District, Crawford Library Board, Hotchkiss-Crawford Historical Museum, and the North Fork Sr. Citizen Board.
Jean enjoyed working, gardening and flowers, doing crafts, polka music, singing cards, yard sales and 2nd hand stores, genealogy and when younger, she loved sledding. Jean’s all time favorite was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her three sons: David E. (Angie) Clark, of Parachute, CO, Arlie B. (Kay) Clark and Elton E. (Karmen) Clark, and daughter, Charlotte Y. (Mark) Lubin, all of Crawford; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Agnes Kraai; her husband, Marvin Clark; and a brother, Robert L. Kraai.
The family suggests memorial contributions to be made in Jean’s memory to the Hotchkiss-Crawford Historical Museum, P. O. Box 724, Hotchkiss, Colorado 81419 or to an organization of one’s choice.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Crawford Community United Methodist Church in Crawford, Colorado, with Rev. Tonya Whaley officiating.
Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Crawford.
