Fran married Irene Reynolds on April 23, 1950 in Knoxville, PA by Rev. Henry Wray. She predeceased him on May 27, 2010.

He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1947. He was employed as a Time Keeper for Ingersoll Rand, retiring in October of 1982 with 32 years of service. Fran will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, trains and especially steam locomotives. He enjoyed spending time is his garden, tending his vegetables. During his time at Three Rivers, he was lovingly referred to as "Peanut."
