She was born in Lincoln Co, Ky to the late Taylor and Gracie (Sims) May. She was a graduate of Campbellsville College and Eastern Kentucky University. She retired from teaching after 28 years with the Pulaski County School System, most of which was with the fourth grade at Eubank Elementary. She was awarded Teacher of the Year, was a Kentucky Colonel, Miss Waynesburg in 1948 and was in Who's Who. She is survived by her husband of over 56 years, Gerald Leigh, two children, Steve & (Virginia) Leigh of Somerset and Angela & (Rick) Smith of Princeton, WV, a brother, Emery & (Roberta) May of Campbellsville, KY, a sister-in-law, Donna Wilkinson, three grandchildren, Meghan Leigh, Evan Smith and Stacy & (Jason) Smith Wilson.
