Sharon was born to Clint and Marie Chittock in Eugene, Oregon on October 28, 1943. She was the eldest of 5 daughters and lived most of her childhood in Selah, Washington. She graduated from Selah High School in 1961, and soon after moved to Yakima where she was married and raised her son.
Sharon most enjoyed being a homemaker. She excelled in the kitchen, took exceptional care of her home, and served her family with joy. She was a devoted mother to her son, Nick, and a wonderful loving wife to her husband, Dennis. She was an accomplished seamstress and tailored for local clothing stores as well as made clothing for her family. Sharon also worked several years as a medical assistant for Dr. Lee in Yakima.
She actively participated in a variety of sports throughout her life. She played softball, tennis, and loved taking daily walks. In recent years Dennis taught Sharon the game of golf and they spent much of their time on the links at Hawks Prairie or their winter home in Sun City, Texas.
Sharon loved the Lord and loved studying God's Word—it was her anchor each day. Her desire to serve the Lord was evident in her involvement in leadership with Bible Study Fellowship for 30 years. She had a sweet, tender, and loving presence and she left a precious imprint on the lives of those who knew and loved her in return. Her faith and hope in Jesus was her strength as she courageously battled cancer, and it was her comfort as she looked forward to soon being with Him in Heaven.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Dennis Patrick; her son, Nick Tobia; her parents, Clint and Marie Chittock; and her sisters: Susan Wells, Lynnette Nilsen, Carla Hull, and Heather Hinze; her stepdaughters Shelley Castellino and Vanessa Swanson; and 2 grand children plus numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA, on February 21 at 1:15 pm. A memorial service will be held in Yakima February 23 at 1 pm at West Valley Church of the Nazarene, 7109 W. Nob Hill Blvd.
