21 Jan 2007: Edward M. Shirk 86, Campbelltown, died Friday, January 19, 2007 at his residence. He was the husband of Almeda Reider Shirk. Born June 26, 1920 in Lebanon , he was the son of the late Ernest C. and Olive Miller Shirk. He retired from Lebanon VA Medical Center as a motor vehicle operator. From 1938 to 1962 he was owner operator of the former City Service Station, Campbelltown. He was a US Army Air Corp veteran of WWII and flew 50 combat missions. He was a 1938 graduate of Lebanon High School; member of Campbelltown United Methodist Church; lifetime member of Campbelltown Fire Company; and a former member of Campbelltown Planning Commission. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons Edward M. Jr. husband of Karen Verba Shirk of Middletown and Robert E. husband of Debra Buck Shirk of Annville; sisters Alice, wife of George Spayd of Palmyra, Florence Spindler of Collegeville and Kathryn Allwein of Lebanon, four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 3 step-great- grandchildren. Funeral Tuesday at Kreamer Funeral Home, Annville. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with military honors. [Lebanon Daily News]
