Nathaniel and his brother Thomas were convicted in 1849 to 15 years for burglary in York, Yorkshire, England. He was transported aboard the ship "HASHEMY" to Western Australia, arriving on 25 October 1850. This conviction was his second conviction.
Nathaniel was married with three living children. Spouse 1: Lucy Empshall (1811-1843); Spouse 2: Ann Elvira HERRING, married 5 October 1846 at St John's Parish Church, Beverley, Yorkshire, England (Ann remarried to William CROSS). In 1849 she was living in Beverley, Yorkshire, England. Children: Ada Jane Herring HORSFIELD (1844-?), George Anthony HORSFIELD (1847-1916), Elizabeth HORSFIELD (1848-?) and William HORSFIELD (1850-1932).
