Karol (Hansen) McElroy, a lifelong resident of Stony Point, NY, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Nyack Hospital after a long illness. Karol was born on January 25, 1929 to the late Ilo and Elizabeth (Anderson) Hansen of Tomkins Cove, NY.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Glenn (Bucky) McElroy and her loving grandson Glenn McElroy. She is also predeceased by her brothers Donald (Virginia) and William Hansen, and sisters Joyce Hill (George) and Ruth Gilbert (Robert), and her sister-in-law, Georgianna (Carlton) O'Dell. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sueann and Edward McElroy. Her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Laura and Nicholas Picariello. Her three great-grandchildren Ryan McElroy, and Nicholas and Travis Picariello. She is also survived by her sisters Sharon Woodmansee, Rosemary Busch and sister-in-law Mary Weidman and husband Floyd Weidman. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Karol will always be remembered for her sweet and kind ways, and for the love she had for all of her family and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home, Rt 9w, Stony Point, NY 10980. Religious service will be held Saturday at 10am at the funeral home with Internment to follow at Mt. Repose cemetery in Haverstraw.
