Calvin John Whittaker, 90 and Carol Lorraine Whittaker, 87 of Leadore Idaho passed away at their Granddaughter’s home in Rigby, Saturday February 11, and Sunday February 12, 2017.

Calvin was born February 11, 1927, in Leadore Idaho to John Whittaker and Caroline Rosalia Whittaker. He was the youngest of 12 children. He was raised on his parent’s ranch in Leadore and attended and graduated from Leadore High School in 1945. In April of 1946, Calvin was drafted to the Army Air Corp. and served his country honorably. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as 1st and 2nd councilor and Ward Clerk in the Leadore Ward. He also served as Postmaster in Leadore from 1962-1987, which he greatly enjoyed. Calvin loved to collect coins, square dance, be around his family and ranch, and eat anything sweet with chocolate.
Carol was born November 27, 1929, in Ogden, Utah to George Carl Udy and Elizabeth Bowen Udy. She was the middle child of 3 children. She was raised on her parent’s ranch in Leadore where she loved to ride her horses and help with the cows. She attended and graduated from Leadore High School. She then moved to Pocatello and attended Idaho State University for a small period of time where she majored in interior decorating before she was married. She loved to sew and often sewed her daughter and granddaughter beautiful dresses. She loved her calling in the LDS church as a seminary and primary teacher. She also loved square dancing, working on their ranch raising Hereford cows, being and aunt and spending time with her grandchildren.

Calvin and Carol where married on October 10, 1948 in Leadore, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on October 30, 1950. They were blessed with a beautiful little girl, Pricilla Fawn Whittaker on July 14, 1954. They made their home on the Whittaker ranch and enjoyed ranching together.

They are survived by a granddaughter, Rosalie Ericsson, two great-grandchildren, and carol’s sister, Thelma Kesl.

They were preceded by their parents, their daughter Priscilla Fawn Whittaker, Cal’s 7 sisters Ellaa, Ura, Lenna, Maggie, Helen, Grace and Opal, 4 brothers Floyd, Leonard, George and Ted and Carol’s brother, David Udy.

Funeral services for Calvin will be held at 10 a.m. at the Leadore LDS Chapel (118 N. 3rd St. Leadore, ID 83464) on Thursday, February 16, 2017. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 9:00-9:45am. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Garland, Utah.
