May Blanton, 52, died Friday, June 25, in the Highlands Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Blanton was born April 1, 1924 in Magoffin County. She was the daughter of Tommy and Pearlie Wheeler Meade. She was a resident of Flat Gap and a member of the Pigeon Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, David Hassell Blanton; two sons, Larry Eugene, and David Cleveland; three daughters, Sandra Kay Salyers, Linda Lou May and Donna Gail Fyffe; five brothers, Paul, Hubert, Howard, Charles and Lloyd; three sisters, Beatrice Williams, Helen Reed and Jeanetta Sterry. Funeral services were held Monday, June 28, in the Pigeon Freewill Baptist church with Reverends Charles Stapleton and William Amburgey officiating. Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville with Jones-Preston Funeral Home handling arrangements. Paintsville Herald, Wednesday, June 30, 1976
