Jane H. Meade, 72, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at her home near East Jordan.

She was born a twin on June 25, 1944, in Charlevoix, the daughter of Hugh and Gertrude (Duckworth) Graham.

Jane graduated from East Jordan High School in 1962 and then attended business school. Jane had several careers in local business over the years.

In December of 1963, she married Glenn Mayhew. He died in 1982. On March 17, 1990, in East Jordan, Jane married Clayton Meade. He survives.

Jane was very active in community affairs for many years. She had served as a board member of the South Arm Township Zoning Board, South Arm Township Zoning Board of Appeals, Grandvue Medical Care Facility and the East Jordan Sports Boosters. She had been an active member of the East Jordan Lioness as well as playing and coaching softball in East Jordan.

She was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and Nascar. She was a Dale Earnhardt, Jr. enthusiast. She loved assisting with the Freedom Festival Parade, flower gardening, bird watching and spending time with her grandchildren.

Jane is survived by her husband, Clayton Meade of East Jordan; five children, Kevin (Pam) Mayhew of Moore, Oklahoma, Brad (Kathy) Mayhew of Lafayette, Indiana, Kelli (Tim) Streufert of East Jordan, Pat (Brad) Bloomquist of Grand Rapids and Scott (Cindy) Meade of East Jordan; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Louise “Peg” Nelson of Waynesville, Missouri and Jane’s twin, Jean (Jerry) Strejc of Cadillac; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan. Rev. James Jordan will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to East Jordan Lioness Cancer Fund.
