Daniel left his small children Olive(9), William(8), Zephia "Mabel" Montgomery(7), Esther Eggleston(4). Wife and Mother, Eliza Phipps passed in 1888.
Mabel was adopted by the Northway's of Windsor. William and Esther went to live with Daniel's Sister, Esther Basch of Painesville.
He is est. to be born in Newcomerstown, Oxford Twp. Coshocton or Windsor Ohio. The family moved to Windsor est 1860. Around 1870, they settled and purchased land in Montville, Geauga Co. His childhood home still stands at 8419 Plank Rd and has a Century Marker. There he spent his adult life farming like his father. He acquired three parcels of land with two next to his fathers at the corner of Plank and Burrows.
Daniel passed under the care of sister, Sophia Smith, after a prolonged illness,at John St. Glenville-Cleveland Ohio.

His 21 acres Estate in Montville was sold off for $500, leaving something for the care of his orphaned children.
