The Mass of the Resurrection was held on Friday morning, Feb 8 in memory of Mrs. Isabella R Slattery of Laurens. Mrs. Slattery passed away on Tuesday Feb. 5 at her home. She had been in failing health for several months. She reached the age of 78 years, 7 months and 1 day.

Services were held at the Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurens with the Father Walter Brunch as celebrant. Organist was Mrs. Clarence Siepker and Dirk cowan was soloist. Pallbearers were Chuck Albrecht, Leo Francis, Norbert Alig, Ken Alig, Harold Francis and Tom Albrecht. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery near Laurens.

Isabella Rose Alig was born July , 1906 in Lourdes, Ill., the daughter of George Jacob and Louisa Ann Rudolph Alig. As a young girl Isabella grew up in Pocahontas County and attended rural school near Pocahontas. She was united in marriage to Francis M. Alig on Jan. 30, 1928 in Pocahontas and they farmed near Mallard before moving to Laurens in 1952. Mr Slattery died in 1979. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Laurens and Sacred Heart Rosary Society .

Survivors are two sons, James Slattery of Laurens and George Slattery of carroll. three daughters, Ann, Mrs. Ken larson of Mammoth Spring, ark.; Mary, Mrs. Don Edwards of Emmetsburg and Rose, Mrs. Don Messerly of Duncombe, 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two brothers Goorge Alig of Fonda and Clem Alig of Pocahontas and three sisters, Eldora, Mrs. Don Francis and Luella, Mrs. Ed Vodraska both of Pocahontas and Arvilla, Mrs. Harold Porath of Watertown, S.D.

Mrs. Slattery was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Raymond and Robert, granddaughter, Judy Ann Dombrowki, four brothers, Wilbur, Norbert, Eddie, and Maurice and a sister, Mrs. Bernice Albrecht.
