-------------------------------------------

Barbara Behm was born May 27, 1895, in New Colony, Russia on the Volga River. Barbara was the oldest of five children born to Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Behm. She was the only member of the family to come to Canada.

She married Henry Kloster in New Colony, in 1912.

Some of the friends that came from the same village to Luseland were Mr. Justinus Ubell, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Phillips, John Ubell, Mr. and Mrs. Willibald Weinmeyer, Mr. and Mrs. John Flahr, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Weinmeyer, Mr. and Mrs. John Behm, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Miller, Mr. and Mrs. John Ruddell, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Weinmeyer.

In 1981, August Behm, first cousin of Barbara, visited from the U.S.S.R., the first time that any relative had visited from Russia. Barbara raised a family of 11 children. There were many hardships. She lost her parents and brothers and sisters in W.W.II.

Her husband, Henry, predeceased her in 1934, leaving her with ten children. She married Joe Kolback and had one son, Edward.

One highlight in her last years was a trip to Vancouver with her granddaughter, Claudette Kloster, to visit her sons, Henry and Victor. They returned to Saskatoon by plane, her first plane ride. She returned to a new home beside her son, Eugene, and family in 1964. She lived happily there for ten years busy with knitting, crocheting, gardening, cooking and was always a good motherly example of strong faith and love to all around her. She passed away on April 27, 1974, and is buried at Luseland Cemetery.
