On May 29, 2004, Sarah E. Hawks Caviness Akers went to be with the Lord. Sarah was born Jan. 30, 1925, in Logan County, W.Va., to Lawrence H. and Cora M. Hawks. Sarah is survived by six loving children, Mrs. Annie Lucille "Lucy" and Kyle Austin of Austinville, Clyde Wilson and Carolyn Caviness of Casacade, Md., Margaret Bullins Caviness of East Carbon, Utah, Joyce Caviness of East Carbon, Utah, Charlotte Mabry of Pulaski, and Tina Brentwood of Galax; two sisters, Wanda "Gaye" Ham of Galax and Mrs. Bo "Jenny" Smith of Galax; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;
nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Mary Lee Sharp. She was preceded in death by parents, Lawrence H. and Cora Stockner Hawks; her husbands, William Howard Caviness and Charles H. Akers; and three sisters, Mazie Grace Hawks, Hazel Milby Ritter and Gladys Parnell Largen. A funeral was held Tuesday at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home with Bishop Jessie Hiatt officiating.
