"Burdette Bond, 73, Graham, Mo., left this life for the next on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, from home, surrounded by friends and loved ones.

The son of Forrest Marcel and Leona Eula Acklin Bond, he was born on January 4, 1944, in Maryville, Mo. He graduated in 1962 from Skidmore High School and attended NWMSU.

He served in the US Army, including a year in Vietnam as an infantry sergeant, 1967-8, earning a CIB, 2 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart, among other awards.

A heavy equipment operator, he ran his own dozing business.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Gayle Russell Bond, his "faux daughter" and sister-in-law, Nina Russell Wiederholt, and husband, Bob; his honorary grandkids, Sarah Wiederholt Dickman (Paul), Russell Wiederholt (Laura), and Vincent Wiederholt (Deanna), their children, nephews, Robert Waddell (Debbie), and John Thomas Waddell (Anita), brother, Roger Bond (Ruth), his aunt, Dorothy Mae Acklin, great nieces and great nephews, dozens of cousins and many friends.

Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, Mo.
Celebration of Life: 10:30 a.m. February 9, 2017, the Bethany Rural Christian Church, Barnard, MO.
Directions: 4 miles east and 3 miles south of Graham, MO on Hwy H, then east on 390th street. The burial will follow in the Groves Cemetery, Skidmore, MO.

Rather than flowers, he had requested memorials to the Groves Cemetery or the Maitland-Graham American Legion Post 256, or the Bethany Church, or to SSM Hospice, or to the donor's choice."
